More about Me

Right now I'm a student at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah where I am studying computer science and working on my Bachelor's Degree. I am in my senior year of school while at the same time I work as a Developer Intern at Altiris (Now part of Symantec) and I plan on graduating in August '07.

When I can, I like to create projects of my own, some of which are shown on this site. A number of them are games. My wife, who loves computer games, was the reason for creating them on this site. It was one of those things where she's playing a game and I comment that I could make it. So, she challenged me a little and I said, "Fine I'll make it!" haha... A little silly I realize, but taking on little projects is fun and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys programming.

Another fun thing to do is compare projects I've made to comporable ones on the Internet. The results are usually interesting. Having programmed a game (or any other project) you pick up very little details that you either notice yours has and their's doesn't or worse vice versa!

For example, I think its fair to assume that most people have either played minesweeper or at least know what it is. However, how many people know that when you click and hold the left and right mouse buttons together at the same time that you end up selecting a 3x3 grid which when released over a number on the board will click all surrounding squares if that number is surrounded by the indicated number of flags. I apologize if I lost anyone there. It is a difficult move to explain and is best learned by either observing it or just trying it. I have noticed, however, that not very many versions of minesweeper I have found implement that feature. Those are the details that programmers notice (and I suppose expert players!).
